Two Ways to Reduce Abortions
December 14th, 2009- Cut public funding of abortions.
- Enact informed consent laws.
These are two strategies that have been proven in the US to reduce the number of abortions. Rory Leishman, national affairs editor of The Interim, gives two facts in his December 2009 column:
- Restrictions on funding of abortions in the US cut the abortion rate among Medicaid recipients by 25%, according to research by the Guttmacher Institute (no friend of pro-life, being the research arm of Planned Parenthood).
- Informed consent laws and restrictions on public funding of abortions have had “the largest and most statistically impact” on reducing abortions, according to a study by Professor Michael New, of the University of Alabama and an associate of the Harvard-MIT data centre.
This is just further evidence that when a woman is properly informed of the facts of life in the womb and the effects of abortion, she is less likely to want an abortion, which is exactly what Halton Pro-Life is all about.
