Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research involves the use of cells in the body for cures.
There are two types of stem cell research: embryonic and adult stem cell research.
Embryonic stem cell research involves the killing of a newly conceived human being in the embryonic stage of life, in order to extract their stem cells.
Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, involves the use of stem cells extracted from umbilical cord blood, fat cells, bone marrow and other ethical sources from the human body. This type does not involve the taking of human life and has been responsible for 72 cures thus far.
To date, there have been no cures derived from experimentation on human embryos.
The pro-life position supports the dignity of the human embryo and their right to life, while encouraging the continuation of research on adult stem cells and applauding their success in yielding real cures.
